From Dust Bags to a Bear – Meet Fairfax

I’m always looking at fabrics and materials and wondering what I could turn them into, and Fairfax Bear started with a couple of Fairfax & Favor shoe dust bags.

Rather than throwing them away, I used the beautiful navy fabric to make a traditional Minster Lovell Bear, carefully keeping the Fairfax & Favor branding as part of his design.

But his recycling story doesn’t stop there.

Inside, Fairfax Bear is stuffed with the natural wool wadding that arrives around Martha and Daisy’s fortnightly Butternut Box food delivery. The packaging actually suggests reusing the wool, and I’d been saving mine knowing I would eventually find the right use for it.

So Fairfax Bear brings the two together — discarded packaging and dust bags, repurposed into something made to last.

He was designed and handmade in my little shepherd’s hut in the Cotswolds and will now be making his way to Fairfax & Favor in Stow-on-the-Wold.

I hope they like him as much as I’ve enjoyed making him.
